Untitled No.56

From my 10th series of abstracts, a set which was based upon a single colour combination of black, white and blue (plus shades of grey). I also began at this point to experiment with two-tone backgrounds: in this case light diagonal corners blending into a dark centre.
The white highlights (and sparsely applied silver) help to give this painting a sense of both movement and stillness, and is one of my favourites of my own work.
(It was also one of the paintings utilised for the CD cover of my solo album Inner Landscapes)
